ZEISS Control 2018

Duration: 1 month
Working language: English

ZEISS is a German manufacturer of optical systems, and industrial measurement and medical devices.

For the upcoming Control Fair (2018, Stuttgart) Zeiss wanted to offer visitors a clear overview of the company’s booths and give them the possibility to book various guided tours. Previously they didn’t have such a page specific for the fair, so there were only loose guidelines and plenty of ideas about how to do it.

The company got me on board to build the presentation website which needed to be fully responsive, with new content being added every day until the end of the fair. The top carousel featuring slides with a short video highlight of the previous day’s events. This was important to keep interested people updated, since a lot of people who were interested could not attend the fair due to limited number of tickets.

The main feature was the booking functionality, where visitours were able to book a guided tour of their choice for a given day and time slot from the available categories (Overview, Lösungen für Additive Fertigungsverfahren, Lösungen für den Messraum, Software- und digitale Lösungen and Lösungen für die Produktion). The booking tool is integrated with Marketo, so the user data gets saved in a central location and a confirmation email can be easily sent.

The website was built using Bootstrap and had to be encapsulated in a way in which when it was integrated into AEM(Adobe Experience Manager) no styles would be overriden. Extra care had to be taken to write the Javascript in such a way in which it wouldn’t conflict with the existing codebase and execute correctly on older browsers as well.

Lehel was the perfect match for our project. He was easy to work with, always understood and followed given priorities, pro-active in suggesting pragmatic solutions and all that while being very efficient and handling high time pressure. In addition, he was able to communicate in a non-tech-language which was important to me as a project manager with limited development knowledge in order to take decisions. I would request Lehel again for the next project and would recommend him without stint.
